G.Fast
G.Fast is a very high performance technology. In order to achieve the targeted 1 Gbps in G.fast, four critical technologies have been specified.
Traditional xDSL uses anywhere from 17-‐30MHz of spectrum to communicate between points. With G.fast, 106 MHz is specified and 212MHz is already being contemplated for future versions.
G.fast usesTime Division Duplexing (TDD) technology
Most consumers’ phone lines are bound together when they reach the curb. This close proximity between wires causes“crosstalk".Vectoring, a proven approach to eliminate this crosstalk, is included in G.fast. Vectoring can more than double throughput versus traditional methods.
One major performance challenge to all broadband technologies comes from electrical noises and state-changes that disrupt the communications links. The G.fast solutions have state-of-the-art mechanisms for overcoming these “disruptors” and ensure much higher effective throughput.
